Sometimes it is good not to think and follow intuition, I think we give too little value to intuition. Yet it is what has so far made me make the best decisions.
Abstract
Many artists who have inspired me use not only their hands when drawing, but also their body, gravity, force, music, materials, weight. The brain has of course an important role, but it is used differently; to Agnes Martin it’s were the inspiration comes from and then it is translated by integrating mathematics as well. She said: “From music people accept pure emotion, but from art they demand an explanation; well, these paintings are pure emotions. They are paintings of state of existence, innocence, happiness, the sublime”. To read this was liberating, I could understand more myself, the way I want to express something without having to explain what and why.
Abstract art is a relationship only between me and the translation of intuition into something practical.
I finally realized that the beauty in an abstract paint is not in the outcome but in what is leading to it. I am not worried anymore. If an emotion happens during the painting, then I will be happy with the outcome and, if my experience is projected to whom is looking at the painting, then the perfect balance between abstract and material has been reached.

This drawing started with an ink line. Then it became more and more abstract.
When I look at abstract art, I don't want to interpret it, I prefer to feel it.
For this painting, I wanted to challenge this need to materialise something abstract. For a week I drew 10 small illustrations every day, whose figures interact with the drawing but are not made of abstract shapes. If you look at the painting, before you have time to say 'This looks like a face', you actually see faces, animals and other images that are not part of the abstract lines.
